The obverse of the Pre-1921 Morgan Silver Dollar depicts George T. Morgan’s design of Lady Liberty. In this design, Lady is featured in a left profile wearing the classic Liberty cap with a hair band decorated and inscribed with “LIBERTY.” The motto of the US, “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” is inscribed above the effigy and completed with 13 stars paying homage to the 13 colonies of the United States of America.

The reverse side of the Morgan Dollar features the US coat of arms with the heraldic eagle in the center. The eagle holds an olive branch, symbolizing peace and a bunch of arrows, representing war in its talons. The portrayal of the eagle is surrounded by the inscriptions of, the country of issue, face value and motto of the US as, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ONE DOLLAR” and “In God we trust”.

The Morgan Dollar, designed by George T. Morgan, was struck by the US Mint from 1878 until 1904, 1921, and since 2021.
