The US Mint
The US Mint was established in 1792 after the passing of the Coinage Act. The Coinage Act of 1792 stated that the US could produce its own currency and coins. After its establishment, the initial coins released by the coins were not widely utilized as the American Merchants preferred heavier Spanish coins and exported the American coins to Europe at times.
In addition to creating and selling national commemorative medals, the Mint also designs and produces unique coins and distributes coins to Federal Reserve Banks. It also produces international, domestic, and bullion coins.
